One Line on the Registry, Priced Two Ways

The Platform Deserves Its Customers

Rocket Lawyer sells access to legal documents and to attorneys. Members draft contracts from vetted templates, send notices without commissioning them, and ask questions of a lawyer without opening an hourly matter. For a business that touches legal paperwork monthly, that subscription replaces a much larger number, and the registered agent appointment bundled beside it is a reasonable convenience.

Their pricing conduct is also better than the category average. Agent service is $125 a year, our check found no introductory rate, and the figure stays identical no matter which membership tier a customer holds. Vendors more often reprice components to make the next tier look necessary. This one does not.

The Question Is How Much of It You Need

Hawaii's requirement is narrow. Your entity must keep a registered agent with a Hawaii street address available during business hours, and the BREG registry records a name and that address. One line. It does not record a document library, a consultation allowance or a subscription tier.

If you use the platform, the $125 is not really an agent price at all and comparing it to one is unfair. If you do not, the same $125 buys the line above and a set of tools sitting untouched behind a login. The difference against a standalone appointment is $26 a year, which happens to be the exact amount Hawaii charges to change the agent on that line.

Swapping Agents While Keeping the Membership

Two notes specific to this switch. First, you can keep the membership. Nothing requires the platform and the appointment to live at the same vendor, and moving the agent line while retaining the document library is a perfectly coherent outcome if the library is worth $125 to you on its own.

The X-7 names an incoming agent, so the replacement is arranged before the form goes in, and the old arrangement stays in place until the registry shows the change.
